Remote Start Operation
Operating your remote start is easy. From your factory remote fob press the lock button 3 times to activate the remote start. The parking lights will flash and the vehicle will start and run for the preset time typically 15 minutes. Pressing the lock button 3 more times will shut the vehicle off. Be sure not to press the lock button too fast or too slow the timing may take a few tries to get used to. When approaching the vehicle simple unlock/open the door. The vehicle will shutdown and you are ready to jump in restart and go!

I ordered the 2020-21 kit, 4runner, with the by-pass to keep the vehicle running after unlocking , and entering the truck. I also added the "1000 ft" fobs (x2).
First thing is , the install is fairly easy. There is a youtube video that walks you through it all, combined with the provided instructions, helps.
The most "difficult "part would be the programing. Which isn't very difficult at all.
Now, I'm not sure when it does this, but it might be when I use the 3rd party remote (provided in the kit) IF the truck isn't already locked, it won't lock it for you but it will start the truck. It will NOT stay on in this scenario. If the truck is already locked and you use the extra remote, the truck will stay on. IF you use the oem Toyota fob, the truck locks anyways and it will stay on.
Also; I paid the extra $50 for the 1000 ft remotes, which (for me) seemed pointless.
They both reached about 30 ft (accessorides fob). The oem fob Reached further. Yes, the signal receiver is up on the windshield and I tried both remotes, at a straight line facing the truck, and STILL wouldn't function until 30 feet away. Also Terrible around corners. Won't work at all if you're around a corner. OEM fob will. I tried both provided (accessorides fob) , and both worked the same. Terribly.
Also be aware that although the truck will stay on, when you apply your foot on the break to keep the truck on, your radio system will restart and you'll see the SOS lights (4runner) flashing green red, green red.
Not sure if this is normal, but mine does this.
In short, it works, but maybe get the app or just stick to your OEM keyfob option.
Definitely buy the By-pass to keep the truck on. Worth the extra money.
Just did my 2020 ORP and I was a little intimidated to start taking apart the dash but the YouTube video made it super easy. Took about 30 minutes having had studied the video several times. Hardest part was putting things back together. Works great
This kit was super easy to install. Took me longer to tidy up the wires than to get it installed and programmed. Will definitely use Accessorides remote start in the future.
Order was shipped and delivered fast. Just got done installing. Very simple with the help of the YouTube video. The plastic clips did scare me pulling them out due to the noise but everything was fine, all in my head. Easy to program. First time ever doing something like this and it took about an hour and a half start to finish. Highly recommended.
Our 2021 4Runner is our third and now the first with remote start which is an option my wife always wanted. We felt fortunate to find a nicely loaded new TRD when none were on the lots after our last one was damaged in an accident. The kit is easy and only took us a couple of hours to install in our driveway (thank God for on line videos). We love that it works just like the factory installed option does with the factory key fob. Yes, the engine does shut down when the doors are opened but that is a Toyota thing.
